The next title in the world renowned Call of Duty series was announced via a teaser trailer in April 2015. The trailer hinted heavily that the title would be Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 the third instalment in the Black Ops trilogy and is in development at Treyarch Studios the team that have produced the previous titles in the Black Ops line.
On April 26th 2015 this was confirmed with Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 being officially announced via a world-wide reveal trailer. Set for release on the 6th of November the game is set many decades after the events of Black Ops 2 and revolves around a world torn apart by conflict. Although featuring a similar setting to 2014's COD: Advanced Warfare, Black Ops 3 is set in a new world and has a different storyline to the events in the previous game.
Call of Duty Black Ops 3 will be the first game in the series to be only playable on the new generation consoles PS4 & Xbox One along with PC. This prospect gives the developer more freedom and options for expanding and altering the Call of Duty formula which has been popular for years but has become stale in the eyes of some gamers.

As seen in the game-play trailer many interesting new elements have been introduced such as wall running, special abilities, combat moves and - for the first time ever in Call of Duty - swimming! These are all capable through cybernetically enhanced soldiers, which is one of the main themes and concerns in the games story.
The abilities a character possesses are decided by which specialist type is chosen by the player. There are 9 of these specialists to choose from which each give different game-play options and abilities to utilise. Players can then upgrade their chosen specialist as they progress though the game. This is the first time a game-play element such as this has been included in a Call of Duty game and adds an RPG like element to it.
The game will feature up to four player co-op in the campaign mode and gives players control of their own customisable character. You can then upgrade the cyber-soldiers with different abilities and can change the appearance and gender of your character, this is a big departure from the Hollywood voiced linear characters of previous games.
The environments that you play in are set to be more varied than any former COD title with larger areas that allow the player to progress their own way using team work and tackle situations how they see fit. This will also be accompanied by the more familiar aspects of COD games but is a welcome change and addition to the series that promises much.
