Out now for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC and CD key downlaod for Steam, visionary game director Hidetaka Miyazaki (director of Bloodborne & the original Dark souls) is back and firmly in the driver's seat with co-director Isamu Okano (Steel Battallion: Heavy Armour) for Dark Souls 3, the latest instalment in FromSoftware's punishingly difficult fantasy action RPG series Souls, following Dark Souls 2 in 2014.
The bleak, medieval game world of Dark Souls 3 blazes into life in this exclusively 8th generation release (Playstation 4, Xbox One & PC), taking deeply immersive gameplay to a whole new level. Explore a ravaged, apocalyptic landscape choked with ash from the body of a fallen Everlasting Dragon. Explorable settlements, castles and caves extend as far as the eye can see, some too dark to traverse without volumetric light sources stunningly rendered taking advantage of the cutting-edge hardware capabilities of the PS4 and Xbox One.
The sheer scale of Dark Souls 3 is enhanced by its intricate attention to detail; illusory shadows scatter across every wall and stone, colour pops from a dying sun hanging over a blistering horizon, and Hellknights wander over a sundered, ashen wasteland beset by dragons, beasts and prowling demons. From experiences at Microsoft's E3 confernece on June 16th, Dark Souls 3 looks set to be the most expansive and entropically beautiful in the series to date.

Following on from the tale of Dark Souls 2, The Age of Fire seems to have long ended, and the inevitable cycle of Undeath begins again with the resurrection of the Lords of Cinder. Far more numerous and powerful than Lord Gwyn in Dark Souls would have led us to believe, the struggle to Link the Flame and preserve the Lord Souls within begins anew. Will you free the world from the encroaching shadow of the Age of Darkness looming over it?
Flagellate yourself against 45 brutal new enemies and 15 intense new bosses, committed to the Dark Souls ethos of accomplishment through overcoming difficulty. Dimension-tearing fiends like the mercurial, dimension-shifting Dancer of the Frigid Valley await, ready to burn the very ground beneath your feet as you fight to survive.
Experience greatly enriched Dark Souls combat with the addition of Combat Arts granting new and creative ways to exploit your enemy's weaknesses. With a developed risk versus reward dynamic typical of Dark Souls, subvert your enemy's defences in melee with the Ready stance for the straight sword, put all of your strength behind powerful lunge attacks for your Greatsword (inspired by Guts from the Berserk anime), or enter 'Circle stance' with twin Scimitars and Falchions to sacrifice your own defences to become a whirling dervish of death. At range, unleash relentless volleys of arrows from your Shortbow while manoeuvring - inspired by Legolas from The Lord of the Rings - and take your rapidly sharpening skills online in the arena of online play through PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and the Internet.
While much speculation surrounds playing Dark Souls 3 online in the lead-up to its release, Miyazaki-san has alluded to the fact that online combat will follow on from gameplay and matchmaking features from Dark Souls 2, which revolved around summoning other players for co-op battles, invading locations at the call of Bell Maidens, and ranked matches played in Covenants. Additionally Dark Souls 2 featured perpetual online elements which would enhance gameplay such as bloodstains which could alert you to possible ambushes, illusions of fellow players - reassuring you others were facing the same hardships as you and shared events.
