Easy to get out at a party with non gamer people. No need to spend a lot of time teaching the rules and for strategies let the people find them out for themselves. The hardest part is when you are captain of the team and you must listen how your team is going on totally wrong path based on your clue and you must keep a straight face and say nothing.

Codenames is a brilliant party game from CGE. Its perfect for large groups but can also be played on a smaller scale as co-op two player game which is reasonably fun. But this game really shines in the large groups and has immense replayability. It is so easy to pick up and I have yet to find anyone that doesnt enjoy it.

Simply one of the best party games I have played so far, and well deserving of the Spiel des Jahres 2016. It is a fun deduction game, where two teams compete to try to find their agents first. The game is simple and quick to teach, except that you have to really set down the rules regarding what clues are allowed and what is not, depending on how your group wants to play. Besides that it is a quick fun play that is great for many occasions and really provides for a fun creative time, filled with laughter as you see if you can communicate to your team mates or if you can properly decipher the clues given to you. With the 200 cards in the box there are tons of different combinations your codename grid can be made out of, and the 40 key cards which can be used in any orientation. Great game, highly recommended!

Vlaada Chvatil has done it again. Codenames obeys our epic rules of a party game's greatness - the 5,10,15,20 rule. If you play it those many times - 5 being good, 10 being smashing, 15 being great, 20 being epic - the Codenames has hit epic more times than I can count. In the first week that I owned the game, my friends and I logged 50 plays. The best clue ever given? Golden for the words Spy, Eye, Missile, Link, Satellite.

nice game for large number of non gamers. the game is very easy and simple to teach and don't require more then knowledge of the words and some creativity. during the game the players are divided into 2 groups with one spy master in each and the spy master have to give his groups clues that will help then ravel their agents(cards with words) over all nice filler.

This can be a lot of fun, and I've almost always had fun laughing with people and trying to figure out what on earth someone is trying to communicate with a particular clue. Think Mysterium, Dixit, and the like. Two teams compete against each other to be able to find their spies without finding the opponents spies, civilians, or the deadly assassin. I don't play this game very often. I think the reason is because it's a casual style of game, but it's not the shortest of games. I also find the mechanics a little too simple. It's not the case that, as things progress, complexities and intricacies start to come out. It's a little to straightforward to keep my interest
