Reviews of Forbidden Island Board Game

This is a pretty good co-operative game. The theme is a fun one, as players are treasure hunting on a sinking island, trying to get the treasures and get out before it is too late! This is definitely a lighter game, and I think is better suited to younger players (maybe up to earlier teens) or people who have not played too many board games. The rules are simple and easy to teach. The game is rather straight-forward, so the best plan of auction will be rather obvious most turns. But even though it is quite simple, the game does still provide a good challenge, with the game being seemingly impossible at the highest level. A good, light co-operative game, that is fun, but mainly for younger players.

A great example of what a coop game should aspire towards, Forbidden Desert will be both a great filler for veterans or a full-game for newcomers to the tabletop games genre. Loads of replayability, and you can increase the challenge as and when you like. You would also like the sister game Forbidden Desert.

very easy co op game were you are trying to get some sculptures and escape the island before it will sink down with you drowning inside. the game is suffering in my opinion from alpha player problems were if you have one good or dominant player he will order each player what to do and how to play and you will feel like a pawn. maybe recommended as intro game but overall its fine and not more then that

This is an excellent introduction to cooperative gaming. Players work together to shore up parts of the island so that they have enough time to collect the treasures and escape before the island sinks. Child friendly, it's difficult enough to be a challenge. After a few mistakes a strategy begins to become clear -- that's fun to see but a repetitively successful strategy does reduce re-playability until there are a few new people to introduce the game to. It's a great one to pull out if someone has lost a few games and will be encouraged to keep playing by a team experience.
