I was really, really disappointed with this game. And let me explain why. The art is amazing, especially if you're into Old SNES games(Think metroid, castlevania) as it is drawn in that style. You get to play as a monster controlling a dungeon, trying to stay a live while also trying to kill 10 heros to win the game. I wont go into detail on how the game is played, but its basically a card. game. You cant build huge and cast dungeons as you might think, as your dungeon is limited to 5 rooms. But honestly, thats ok, I got used to that after my 3rd game. After I've played it however, for my 5th or 6th game, the game really got stale. It has a kingmaking problem, IE, a person who manages to build a good dungeon at the start of the game will probably rush through. Basically, while it gives you a huge deck of cards to play with, you'll find yourself using the same strategy over and over. Trying to find a good mixture between strategy and luck, I feel that this game found a very awkward middle point, which honestly it would be way better if it swinged one way or the other.

Great game, recommend getting the expansion but only until you've understand how to play the main game as it adds some more complexity.

Some games you fall in love with at once, and for me this was one such case. The cutesy pixel art really struck a chord with me (I'm 31 years old so while it's not exactly the kind of videogames I grew up with, this style really got me nostalgic), especially since it is so humourous at times. For example, I saw a number of cards that very tongue-in-check refer to various elements of fantasy (there was one card that I am pretty sure was lovingly spoofing Harry Potter as he duelled a Voldemort-like creature), but also pop culture (which leads to my favourite card of them all - the Wreck Room, which featured a little green lizard on a wrecking ball, gleefully parodying the Miley Cyrus video). The only other card game I've seen do this is Munchkin, with all its exapansions - I definitely appreciated the dose of humour. The game play was pretty interesting as well. There are a lot of different cards that can change the game play around, and also, there are plenty of bosses you can pick to be, some with their own powers, meaning that once more, there's a lot of re-playabilty. We only had two games so far but I already want to try it again and again!
