Yes for kids this migth be spooky.
What it is for a grown up: It is a cool approach to the idea of adding randomized events to a spooky themed atmospheric game of escaping. And doing this in front of the TV and a gamehost who looks like "StarWars Emperor Palpatine on his better days" with a nice rattling voice and unpleasant attitude towards you - adds up to an actual good solid gameplay.
You get a character with a dommsday-name a rack for those keys you have to collect and simple to understand board items and movements.
So it is fast to set up. The material and especially the tokens and keys are really nice and you will enjoy the randomized gameplay.
Yes you may take it out of the cupboard only every so often, but it's cheap and a solid good entertainment every time. And with a surging soundtrack towards the end...it might even race your heartbeat up a good notch!
