Dixit Odyssey is both a standalone game and an expansion for Jean-Louis Roubira's Dixit, which won Germany's Spiel Des Jahres award in 2010.
Game play in Dixit Odssey matches that of Dixit: Each turn one player is the storyteller. This player secretly chooses one card in his hand then gives a word or sentence to describe this card - but no too obviously. Each other player chooses a card in hand that matches this word/sentence and gives it to the storyteller. The storyteller then lays out the cards and all other players vote on which card belongs to the storyteller. If no one or everyone guesses the storyteller's card, the storyteller receives no points and all players receieve two; otherwise the storyteller and the correct guesser(s) each receive three points. Players score one point for each vote their image receives. Players refill their hands and the next player becomes the storyteller. When the deck runs out the player with the most points wins.
The fantastic universe of Dixit, winner of the Spiel des Jahres 2010, returns to entrance you once more. With Dixit Odyssey, continue the adventure in new worlds that will enchant and delight. Dixit Odyssey gives players the chance to choose the whimsical and dreamlike art that matches the storyteller’s tale, and then see if they can find the storyteller’s card among all those before them. Using your imagination and wit, journey through wild and magical new worlds and rediscover the brilliance and wonder of the original. Discover 84 new illustrations by Piero and Marie Cardouat in Dixit Odyssey, the standalone game for up to 12 players that include a new, more practical scoreboard, voting pads, and new rabbit tokens. Plus Dixit Odyssey has room to store all the cards from both Dixit and Dixit 2, so you can take the whole game with you in one box. A new universe of magical worlds awaits!

Excellent party game. This best seller never fails to delight when introduced to new gamers or seasoned veterans alike. One person gives clues to a picture then everyone else secretly puts forward one if their pictures, trying to get players to guess theirs. It’s a pictorial version of the splendid Balderdash. Just right for all the family and all ages as the skill level is easily adjusted.

Dixit is a party game best played with strangers or best friends. The purpose is to give clues that at least one other person can guess, but neither everyone nor no one should guess. The game rewards you for the thoughtfulness and often obtuseness of your guess. You can give your clues in song, phrase, or action, leaving loads of possibilities. Bring out those Doctor Who references to puzzle the friend who doesn't watch the show.
