Pure Ameri-trash as some reviewers like to call it. And you have two ways of winning - Get your score up to 20 or knock all the other monsters health to zero. You can reroll your dice upto twice allowing you plenty of flexibility, but really this is a light-hearted. Hoot, Holler, Grunt. Just emerge as the number one monster in the ruins of Tokyo city.

King of Tokyo is a fun, dice-chucking luck fast. If you're looking for a game with deep thought and strategy, then please, look else where. However, this game is highly thematic and fun! The game includes a whole lot of different monsters for you to play as. Sadly, all of these monsters play the same(only they look different) *Unless* you get the Power up! expansion, which makes each monster play differently. Fast, Easy to teach and play, and with a really fun theme(Monster smash!) I'd highly recommend this game for anyone who just wants to chug a few dice and have a laugh. I would also like to compare this game to its brother, "King of new York". Honestly, this version is way, way, way better then King of New york. Why? Because its simpler. King of New York adds a bunch of extra rules which, while they're fine once you get used to them, are unneeded in a luck based game.

This game is nice and simple... throw dice smash other players in the face and buy new powers for your monster. this game is highly suggested for players who like fast games that involve a decent amount of luck and some basic strategy to it but not to much. but as a player that like a lot of strategy in games it tends to be to chaotic and need the power up expansion to add some more strategy to it.

This is a great game indeed! Very simple, fast and amusing one. The simplicity of the game makes it very good for non-gamers also. The game itself is a combination of a yahtzee-like dice throwing mechanism,a lots of improvement cards and some money management. This is a good game if you want something with fast action, and without a lot of depth. Very addictive!

This game is INSANE fun ! I cannot tell you how many times my game group have burst out laughing and shouting at each other in this awesome tour de force ! The game doesn't come with plastic miniatures but it keeps the price down to an absolute steal. There are a lot of custom dice and a lot of very nice quality cards and monster cut outs to play with. The game seems to play best with 4 people but it also worked with 3 quite well too. The aim of the game is to become the KING OF TOKYO by staying in Tokyo the longest, but watch out other monsters want to be king too and they will do whatever it takes to kick you out of town and take your place. Cut throat and a laugh from start to finish. Yet another 'must have' board game I'm afraid.
