    Ticket to Ride Board Game

    A railway adventure
Since its release in 2004, Ticket To Ride has become one of the most successful games of all time and its widespread popularity has led to the creation of several expansion sets which allow for the exploration of new aspects of the game. With elegantly simple gameplay, Ticket to Ride can be learned in under 15 minutes, while providing players with intense strategic and tactical decisions every turn.

Make your way across 1900s America
Ticket to Ride is a cross-country train adventure. Players compete to connect different cities by laying claim to railway routes on a map of 20th century North America, visiting great cities and collecting points along the way. On each turn, players can collect cards of various types of train cars, purchase Destination Tickets or claim routes with pre-owned train cards. The longer the route that has claimed, the more points they earn. Additional points are also added to those who fulfil Destination Tickets – goal cards that connect distant cities as well as to the one player who builds the longest continuous route.

    Inspired from a literature classic
Paying tribute to Phileas Fogg’s expedition around the world, Ticket to Ride sets out to out to create the perfect setting for an impossible journey in a winner-takes-all competition. The objective: Who can travel by rail to the most cities in North America — in just 7 days. The journey begins immediately…

    Great quality pieces
Ticket to Ride features high-quality illustrations and components including: an oversize board map of North America, 225 custom train cars, over 100 illustrated train cards, and wooden scoring markers as well as 30 destination tickets

    Simple Rules
The rules are simple enough to write on a train ticket – each turn you either draw more cards, claim a route, or get additional Destination Tickets, says Ticket to Ride designer, Alan R. Moon. The tension comes from being forced to balance greed – adding more cards to your hand, and fear – losing a critical route to a competitor.

    For all players alike
Since being first introduced in 2004, Ticket to Ride has continually delighted millions of board game fans worldwide, winning numerous awards and becoming the epitome of a "gateway game" -- simple enough to be taught in a few minutes, and with enough action and tension to keep new players as well as board game connoisseurs involved for the duration.

A really incredible game. Very easy to use as a gateway game to new players, as it has very simple rules, easy to learn. Also, a very good and fun theme, as you can feel building your own railways to dominate the country. My parents loved it very much, and i love it myself. The Europe is a more complete game, but this is still a "must have".

Fantastic game. The Monopoly of modern game age. No doubt it is a perfect gateway game. It is so simple to learn. In few minutes you can introduce new players and get ready for fun. The theme is great. You feel immerse in a world of magnates trying to build rails, connection big cities and bring empires to the top. The aim here is very easy. You start with an USA maps with some cities joined together in a kind of graph. You have to fill these empty spaces with your trains. Once you build on these paths, you have just joined two cities, offering a service between them. If you keep joining more adjacent cities, you are creating interconnection between them. You also have mission cards, which basically give you two cities to join. The farther they are, the higher point you get at the end of game. But in case of failure, at the end of game you get these points against you. It's a such a simple idea, but so well executed and put together. Probably one of best family games ever. Even heavy gamers enjoy playing this. Quick to play and always gives good. fun.

Excellent game, and totally great as it is, but overtaken by Ticket to Ride Europe as the "default" edition to own. The half sized playing cards and some not entirely well balanced destination tickets drag it down when compared to the stellar Europe edition. However, if you like the wide, open spaces and long runs, it's hard to resist. Do as I did, treat it like an expansion map, buy the 1910 expansion set for anonther 14 quid to get LOTS of new and better balanced tickets (as well as all the originals) plus a new deck of train cards, that are full sized! Bingo! Now it plays like a champion! If you are not as tragic as I am, and simply want the best value Ticket to Ride game to bust out at Xmas with the family, get thee to the Europe edition.

Really fun game for the entire family, but Ticket to ride Europe is superior in my opinion, so I do not see any reason to buy this except if you are a really big fan of the franchise or if you want the expansions.

This game is considered one of the "Holy Trinity" of gateway games, and with good reason - it has simple rules that anyone can grasp in 5 minutes and yet packs enough depth to be strategic and interesting. A perfect game to play with the family and with people who think that the board game spectrum starts and ends with Monopoly. Can't go wrong with this one!
