Grand Theft Auto GTA Chinatown Wars is an example of how a developer reuse a tried and tested formula but make it current enough to feel engaging and enjoyable for the current gamer.
The visual style and over head (top down) camera view mirror the original GTA 1 and 2 games which give the game quite a classic feel that some gamers might not like (After playing GTA3 and Sanandreas) However the introduction of mini games for breaking into cars, trade missions and a 3D look make this game feel new enough to entice gamers who are both new to the series or returning for a GTA fix.
Story wise it's the usual GTA affair, you start, a lowly triad lacky with barely two pennies to rub together and the aim via completing missions for family and gang members is to gradually climb your way to the top. Earning money as you go. What is impressive is the fact that again, this is a full GTA title in the palm of your hands, visuals are excellent as are the controls, it really does have to be seen to be believed.
Pros: A tried and tested formula, all the fun of a full console iteration of GTA but in hand held form.
Cons: Some players may not like the return to the old school top down camera.
