    Product Description

Are You the Traitor? Board Game

Are You the Traitor? is a secret role selection game akin to Werewolf/Mafia. One player is the Evil Wizard, attempting to obtain the Magic Key for nefarious purposes. Another player is the Good Wizard, trying to destroy the Key to keep it out of Evil hands. The other players support Good or Evil in various roles. Each round, there is a discussion period, after which one of the players acts. After someone acts, the players determine whether the forces of Good or Evil were served, with the prevailing side gaining treasure. Play continues until one player gets enough treasure to win.
    • 4 to 10 players
    • 30 minutes playtime
    • It's the moment of truth in your quest to destroy the Evil magic Key

Unfortunately disappointing. I bought this game because it sounded like the exact kind of thing my group would enjoy (We play a lot of One Night Ultimate Werewolves and Resistance, both games about bluffing what character you are and seeking different objectives). However, it feels like Are You The Traitor has one or two crucial aspects missing - perhaps there are not enough roles, or ways to gain information. Essentially, every game we played followed this pattern: Everyone draws cards. The wizards draw their Good/Evil cards, and the Keyholder is revealed to all other characters. The round begins. All wizards claim to be the good wizard. All other players claim to be guards. There is not any other logical claim for any player to make. After that, it's purely a guessing game, and you can't catch anyone out on their story (unlike ONUW) because they are JUST as likely to be the role they claim as their opponent is. I'd give this one a miss. It's certainly not a game I can see our group ever playing again. If this sounds like your kind of game, go for Resistance or One Night Ultimate Werewolves instead.
