I looked at this game on Youtube before buying and was instantly attracted to the interesting game mechanic. You start by learning a back story about an inheritance and this sets the scene for a very interesting game.
You start with one character, male or female, and then build up a family by getting married, having kids, gaining titles and friends and basically building up your prestige which in turn, gets you honour points, The person with the most honour points at the end of the game wins.
Each friend card you use to marry into your family also brings their own individual character traits which can enhance your family prestige or give you more influence or money.
In this way after three generations of the game (9 turns) you end up with a variety of colourful characters and prestigious titles that develop into a total family tree right in front of your eyes.
The presentation of the game is also first rate - colourful player boards and excellently drawn individual friend cards all add to the satisfaction with this game.
Oh, one other thing, there is also an excellent 1 player variation with totally different rules and game mechanics - you start with a different back story in that you have to investigate your family tree (i.e. work backwards through the whole process) to see if you can gain the inheritance left to you.
So two games in one and excellent value. I would highly recommend this game to anyone who is tired of the same old game mechanics and wants to try something different.
