When I pre-ordered Sunset Overdrive from 365 games I wasn't exactly sure what to expect. I'd seen some impressive looking trailers online but had not had any hands on experience.
After around 20 or more hours of play through I have come to a verdict, Sunset Overdrive is essentially GTA, meeets Mirrors Edge, Meets Dying Light, Meets Dead Rising 3 Meets Crackdown meets Tony Hawkes Pro Skater. It really is a mix of all of these games. A jack of all trades, perhaps master of non seems a bit unkind but the game doesn't seem to be very focused. The story was both weird and forgettable and the characters were fairly generic. That said, the Free running/Skate type mechanics mixed in with 3rd person shooter elements are genuinely very fun and the controls are exceptionally tight. Over all a fun and enjoyable experience but not for everyone. If you liked any of the games I listed above I would recommend this game to you. If you were not a fan, perhaps this is one to miss! I've given 4 stars because I did have fun with the game, I just feel that it was a bit too much of a mish mash of other excellent (more focused) titles.
